OS X ethernet setup

OS X Leopard on mac mini wouldn’t connect via ethernet, with “cable unplugged” message (or similar). Solution…

  1. Router side, I assigned an IP to the mac address via static DHCP.
  2. In mini network settings, advanced section, changed to manual instead of DHCP and changed to manual ethernet settings instead of automatic, to set connection as 10 base T half duplex.
  3. The ethernet then connected and I could change back to DHCP successfully.
